Obamacare
Learn more
Contrary to what many believe, Obamacare (ACA – Affordable Care Act) is not a government health plan. It is a law that regulates the health care system in the United States. This legislation requires, for example, that insurers offering insurance regulated by the law provide an annual check-up at no cost to the patient. In addition, these insurers are required to cover any type of illness, including pre-existing conditions, as well as visits to urgent care services, hospitalizations, surgeries, maternity, prescription medications, among other services, with no defined coverage limit.
Medicare
Learn more
Medicare is a health insurance program administered by the United States government, primarily intended for people aged 65 or older or those who meet certain disability criteria and are legal residents of the country. Medicare is subdivided into several parts:
Part A: partially covers hospital expenses (to access this section of Medicare for free, at least ten years of Social Security contributions are required);
Part B: partial coverage for doctor visits and other healthcare professionals;
Important: Part A and Part B make up “Original Medicare,” which pays for a large portion of medical and hospital expenses, but not all. Even with Original Medicare, there will still be expenses to be paid by the insured.
Part C: also known as Medicare Advantage, is an excellent alternative to Original Medicare, as it combines Part A and B coverage and, in some cases, Part D as well, and may also offer additional benefits such as vision, hearing aids, and dental coverage. Part D: provides partial coverage for prescription drugs and is purchased separately.
Short Term
Learn more
As the name suggests, it is short-term health insurance that offers temporary medical coverage for transitional moments in your life.
Coverage and benefits in short-term health insurance depend on the terms of the policy and the chosen insurance company. To ensure if Short Term is the right option for you at this time, it is necessary to understand how it works and what it covers.
