Focus only on your success!

Business Insurance was created to help protect companies against risks that may affect their operations, assets, employees, and financial stability. Whether for small businesses, growing companies, or operations in specific industries, having the right coverage provides greater security and peace of mind for the business owner.

What insurance might a business need?

Coverage What it can protect
General Liability Certain claims for bodily injury, property damage, and liability toward third parties.
Commercial Property The building, furniture, equipment, inventory, and other business assets, as defined in the policy.
Workers’ Compensation Expenses and benefits related to certain work-related injuries or illnesses among employees.
Commercial Auto Vehicles used in the company’s operations.
Professional Liability / E&O Certain claims related to errors, omissions, or failures in providing professional services.
Business Interruption Can help with lost income and certain expenses when the business has to pause operations due to a covered event.
Cyber Insurance Certain risks related to cyberattacks, data breaches, and digital incidents.
Inland Marine / Equipment Tools, equipment, and certain property transported or used away from the main location.
Umbrella / Excess Liability Additional liability limits above certain underlying policies.

Available coverages depend on the business activity, the insurer, underwriting, and policy terms.

What is a Business Owner’s Policy — BOP?

A Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) bundles certain coverages used by small and medium-sized businesses, typically combining Commercial Property and General Liability into a single policy.

Not every business is eligible for a BOP, and other protections — such as Commercial Auto and Workers’ Compensation — are usually purchased separately. The Florida Department of Financial Services also describes a BOP as a simplified combination of property and liability coverage for certain small and medium-sized businesses.

What affects the price of business insurance?

There’s no single price for commercial insurance. The cost can vary based on:

  • the business activity;
  • revenue;
  • payroll;
  • number of employees;
  • location;
  • the size and characteristics of the property;
  • vehicles used;
  • equipment and inventory;
  • coverage limits;
  • deductibles;
  • claims history;
  • the business’s experience;
  • contracts and services performed;
  • the insurer’s underwriting criteria.

Because of this, two businesses in the same industry can receive different quotes.

Businesses that need a closer look

Some industries carry specific risks and may need different combinations of coverage, such as:

  • contractors and construction companies;
  • cleaning companies;
  • restaurants;
  • transportation companies;
  • independent professionals;
  • realtors;
  • clinics and healthcare professionals;
  • businesses that use vehicles;
  • businesses that store customer data;
  • businesses with employees;
  • businesses that use tools and equipment off-site.

The right type of insurance depends on how the business actually operates.
